A librarian never reveals her secrets! 😉
I’m so sorry, Denali. 🙁 It’s not a stupid question. This forum has been my baby for five and half years, so it’s hard for me to let it go also. Like you, I have made some very close friends here.
Part of it is the spam, but that’s really just one symptom among several that tell us the site is getting old (notifications not working, things like that). So those issues, as well as changing regulations on privacy and such, and a variety of other things that badly need our attention, made it more and more difficult to maintain. And once we started thinking of needed updates, we started thinking of awesome updates, so the result will be super cool. 🙂 But I hear you. It is a real loss. And I will miss you guys.
Miss Linda, that is a good question. We are going to be working on the new site for some weeks, so if you have the URL into the forum, you should still be able to see it until the new site is completely ready and launched. After that, I do not know. We’re just beginning the process of thinking through what the place will look like, and being the lore-brains of the project rather than the tech-brains, I am not sure whether any links will go dead in the process.
Thwapling, how vexing! Have you checked your spam folder? (I have had that trouble, too. Another sign that the forum is wearing a bit thin lately.)
You know what else you can do, is just copy the URL to the Flabbit Room. Then you can just paste it in and zoom right over.
I think your brain process 45 minutes after learning of a big change is very reasonable. 🙂
In case anyone needs this link, Crazywriter started a finding-each-other thread:
Thank you, Wingiby! I much appreciate your encouragement. 🙂 No reason to be embarrassed. I am very well-practiced in the ways of forum-dwelling, haha.
Miss Mary—good call! The email notifications will get you back into the forum, but ONLY if they are turned on in the first place. 🙂 (Good news is, you really only need one. Any forum notification will get you here, even if it’s to another subforum originally. If that’s the case, you just click “Ban Rona Book Club” and go to the Flabbit Room from there.)
Hey Crazywriter! Those two places were just thoughts I had. Your brainstorming thread is a great idea. I’m sure you guys will come up with something. 🙂
Yes! Brainstorm away!
Thank you kindly, Wingiby and Artham. 🙂 For Wingiby and any others who are wondering about how to access the Flabbit Room this week, the only real change is that instead of clicking FORUM in the menu, you’ll go to the top of the topic your email brings you to, and click “The Flabbit Room,” right underneath the topic title. Like this:
Well, the spammers sure weren’t squashed for long, were they?
All right everyone, things are turned back on. Sorry that closing new threads closed the existing ones also! Hopefully that short hiatus squashed the spammers.
Hey everyone, there has been an unprecedented amount of spam being posted in the forum this week, so just to keep everyone safe from the bots, I have turned off new topics for awhile. You can still post in the topics already here, so this will not affect your collaborative story-writing at all (or any of the other threads). Be safe and have fun!
Nope, not just a rumor. It was a Kickstarter reward, and we were thinking for awhile that it might be released more widely, but in the end it was decided to just release it to backers.
