Andrew’s birthday is June 4! Help us celebrate by writing him a note! Maybe something you appreciate about him, his books, or his music. Maybe a haiku about tacos, or a funny story, or a quote from a book you love. Or maybe just a simple “Happy birthday!” I know it’d make his day to hear from you. 🙂

Have a blessed and inspired birthday! Your music and writing has most certainly inspired my own storytelling. I once wrote a blog post about you on my old blog which said, “If C.S. Lewis wrote songs, his name would be Andrew Peterson.” I still stand behind that statement 🙂

Happy Happy Birthday Andrew Peterson! What a gift your life is to so many. Your songs and stories have changed me and impacted me deeply. The Wingfeather saga has impacted me greater than any other work of fiction I’ve ever read and has led to such sweet meaningful conversations with my children. Thank you for sharing your gift with all of us. My daughter and I will be at Inkwell and can’t wait to meet you. She is counting down the days to meet her favorite author. 🙂 The stories are true are’t they…. thank you for telling them. May you feel greatly loved and celebrated this week!

Mr. Peterson, sir?
You told me, sir, one day long ago,
in a book called Molehill (you remember, I know),
that as long as I made something, creating was something.
So now, on this occasion so momentuous to you,
And, I believe, to others who were affected by truth
that you so painstakingly wove into a tale
of adventure and perilous cows with tails,
(and please excuse my pitiful rhymes,
my terrible meter – I don’t have much time)
On this said occasion, I offer now humbly
my thanks and my blessings and with tummy now rumbling
I leave this effort for limpiny stew
and send a last “Happy Birthday” to you.

Like Sydney Carton,
Janner Wingfeather displays
the wisdom of God:
there is no greater love than
to give one’s life for one’s friends.
Thank you, Mr. Peterson.

but never mayo
I work at DQ
so I can sell you some too

I’m going to break the poetry theme, because I just can’t write poetry.
I’m glad you exist, and having you in this world has made my life better. I know that is probably a strange thing to say to someone, especially on their birthday. But less than a year ago I didn’t know you existed. Then I discovered your books, and followed that to your music, and to the Rabbit Room, where I learned that even more people I like exist.
So, since generalities seem a bit boring to me, here are some of the specific ways you have made my life better. Your books made me laugh and cry, sometimes at the same time. They gave me a way to concretize (is that a word? Spell-check doesn’t think so) vague concepts and ideas that I was wrestling with. They put ideas into words that I couldn’t figure out a way to say. And they remind me of so much that is True, even in a lighthearted children’s story. They have also started several great conversations and activities with some of my younger friends. Your music does many of the same things, and is also just fun to listen to. Especially because of your music, I find that I am able to “see” things more clearly… the world around me, myself, and God.
So thank you, and happy birthday!

I was watching two year olds playing with toy animals; when one yelled “I’m a cow! MOOOOOOO!” and advanced on a tiger I decided it must be a toothy cow.
“Varkyvar Gickle Snop” (or, in Hollish, “Be Thou Ever Hale and Let Thy Heart Be Glad.”

Not every girl gets two makers. Thank you, little maker, for making me and introducing yourself to me. Thank you that for every time Oskar has called me creepy, you’ve thanked me and called me helpful. I hope your birthday is full of joy and all the very best books.

Andrew, thank you for:
•Breaking my heart repeatedly through your stories and music;
•Telling us the truth;
•Helping me believe that eternity is real;
•Making yourself known—being brave for us so that we know we’re not alone;
•Honoring Jamie in the city gates; enjoying and taking pride in your kids (you five are a sign that goodness is real and is truer than brokenness);
•Loving the Rabbit Room into being;
•Fighting for chartreuse, i mean community;
•Trusting me and letting me help you;
•Teaching us hope while sharing our grief;
•Reminding us who we are;
•Interacting with us online and spending unhurried time with us at shows;
•Teaching us the beauty of servanthood and sacrifice through Throne Wardenship;
•Being kind and gracious even when you’re tired;
•Being kind and gracious even when i’m terrifically awkward;
•Introducing me to books and writers, music and musicians i have come to love;
•Writing stories which make us see our own hearts, yet not despair;
•Telling us that we are loved;
•Giving words to our longings and fears;
•Piercing our hearts with many sehnsuchts;
•Giving us hope that it is better to be broken and redeemed by love;
•Warning us of the dangers of toothy cows, bomnubbles, and many other creatures which would gnaw us hideously had you not alerted us and trained us to defend ourselves and the ones we love;
•Sharing your windows in the world;
•Pouring yourself out—remaining steadfast in your calling throughout many years and hard seasons;
•Being one of the poets i have known.
You are a priest and a prince in the Kingdom of G-d. i am so grateful for you.
Happy birthday. 🙂

Thank you for being willing to share God’s word in this rather unresponsive world. You inspire me greatly.

You have inspired me beyond words.
I consider you one of the greatest writers I have ever heard of, and you belong in the long list of authors I have loved and cherished, like C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, Charles Dickens, G.K. Chesterton…the list goes on. You have shaped my life through your music, which I’ve been listening to since I was a child, and your books have challenged me in such a wonderful, inexplicable way; they made me see high beauty in deep sorrow and I appreciate that immensely.
Thank you for you stories and your music, which are almost one in the same. My life will be forever altered because of you, even if we’ve never met.
I wish you the Happiest of Birthdays, filled with laughter, joy, and story-telling.

I hope that you are having a wonderful birthday. Your books have made many of my days, and my family member’s days more fun and more wonder-filled.

Dearest beloved Andrew Peterson,
Although I have not had the privilege of meeting you, I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to know of you and your work. My sister Laure has inspired me with your music and writings. I appreciate all the wonderful things she wrote here for your birthday. I am looking forward to growing more in my faith through your work, as it is evident that you are being used by God to help others realize hope and redemption! I am honored to call you a brother in Christ.

Happy birthday, Mr. Peterson. I’ve haven’t known about your novels and music for very long – only about two months, but I don’t think I can rightly express in this little comment. Your music is playing on repeat at my house, and most of my family has read the first three of your Wingfeather Saga. My little brother has even read a couple of them twice since we discovered them!
Sir, I deeply respect you, and you inspire me. As far as people go, I’m not inspired very easily… so, thank you. Thank you a ton.

Thank you for your wonderful books. I’ve loved every part of them (and I’m reading the last one to my little sister, and she’s loving them too!) Also thank you for your amazing, uplifting music. Your music and books have been a great blessing to me.

Amazing! Thanks, Madame Sidler and all you wonderful readers for the well-wishes. The day is almost over and I just saw this. Grateful for each of you.

I just saw this so I am quite late, but Happy Birthday! I really love your books! They are there on my top 5, along with Narnia, Lord of the Rings, Berinfell Prophecies, and Gateway Chronicles. I just can’t choose which I like best…

I’m very late, actually…a year late. But I couldn’t resist posting here. Andrew Peterson, if you see this, it would make my dream come true if you respond. I can’t wait to meet you at Hutchmoot…someday! I’m still planning to come as soon as my parents will let me! Also, I’m one of the kids who was watching your video in a picture on Instagram, if you remember that. But anyway…
Your songs fill me with awe and wonder for God’s magnificence. My favorites (so far – I only have a few of your albums) are “The Dark Before the Dawn,” “Be Kind to Yourself,” “You’ll Find Your Way,” and “Lay Me Down” – they all make me cry and laugh and shout! Thanks so much!
You also inspire me by your books. So much. Especially The Warden and the Wolf King; Janner reminds me of myself and I love his sacrifice. I hope I’d be as brave. Your prose is so beautiful, just like your poetry.
There are way more things I could rave about here, many ways you’ve changed my life (and I’m serious about that), but I don’t have time and my words can’t explain my thankfulness for your writing and music. Thanks so much, AP! Can’t wait to meet you, in this world or the next!
The stories are true.
