I’ve loved HTTYD ever since I saw the first movie (I’m not sure what age I was), and was in the theaters to watch the third one earlier this year. I play a HTTYD video game (available on computers, android, and ios) called School of Dragons, which is essentially a game where you play as a Viking kid from Berk, and are attending a school so that you can learn how to train dragons. I can explain how gameplay works more later if you want (I play this on an android tablet, so I have no clue how you play it on computers, though I know it is available for them).
If there are any other HTTYD fans on here, I would greatly appreciate some company!!!

I like it too!

Nice to know I’m not the only one. What are your favorite dragons?
My favorites are Night Furies, Nadders, NightLights–specifically Pouncer, Toothless’ white baby–, Skrills, and Sand Wraiths (HTTYD dragon species that shows up in SoD).
There are probably more, but those are all the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

I haven’t seen SoD but I saw all of the RoB and RttE so I know what the Skrill is. So I like the Triple Strike, the Buffalord, and I liked Toothless before he had the whole lightning ability. I did not like the lightning ability because it made him super powerful when before, he won everything because of speed and agility. Plus, they stole that ability from the Skrill

I like Night/light furies, triple strikes, and since I swim I like pretty much all the sea dragons. And remind me what is SoD again?

School of Dragons, I think. I don’t know anything about it.

Ok I haven’t seen that either. Thanks!

SoD is the HTTYD video game I play. It’s basically a game where you’re learning how to train dragons, and I really like it. The timeline is a little messed up, because stuff from any part of the series can happen at any time via expansion packs. I’ve only completed 2 packs (Icestorm Island and Battle for the Edge), both of which I found entertaining. I’ve lost track of how many dragons I’ve trained, and I still have two more eggs waiting to hatch, and another incubating, lol.
If you’re curious, SilverWillowWing plays SoD on YouTube. The game animations aren’t great, but I think that the story is pretty well done. So far, there are two Hidden World expansion packs. Grimmel is undefeated at the end of the first one (which is loosely based on HTTYD 3), and the second one is all about the twins’ Hobgobbler pranks. Lots of people say that SoD is a “pay to win” game, but I don’t think so. The only time I spent money in it was last Christmas, in order to get one of Toothless’ babies before they left the game. If you have patience, I think it’s pretty easy to succeed in the game.

Sun Wukong: thanks!
Anyways, if you had a dragon (or several dragons, if you like), what would you name it?
Here’s my answer:
Monstrous Nightmare–Silent Strength, Fire Eyes
Also, if you want to discuss fan theories on here, say so!

[dragon species]-[name i would give them if i have one of them]
For the Monstrous Nightmare, there were two names I really liked, so a went ahead and listed both of them. That clear things up?
If that wasn’t what you were finding confusing, then what, exactly, was it?

Okay, stupid question.
Here’s a different one:
Is anybody else curious about Eret’s backstory? I can’t help but wonder why he was working for Drago in the first place. Probably because he’s pretty high on my favorite character list.
Here’s some stuff I pieced together:
We know that Drago, what with his world-domination-type obsession and all, likely conquered several Viking tribes before coming to Berk, which explains why he has so many followers (and his Bewilderbeast probably helped with that too, as Hiccup suggested when he confronted Drago).
Plus, during the first scene that he appears in, Eret displays his brand scar, courtesy of Drago (“This is what he gave me last time I turned up empty-handed.”)
Plus, in later scene, Drago ordered him executed (“Get rid of him.”).
That is some good evidence that Eret’s tribe/clan was conquered by Drago and his dragons at some point.
There’s something that Eret says about his past in HTTYD 3 (aka, How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World), though, that may support that, or it may not. I can’t figure out which (“I know this handiwork. Grimmel the Grisly. Famous back where I’m from. The smartest dragon hunter I ever met.”).
While I have my suspicions about Drago, admittedly, which support my theory, I can’t figure out what part of the “Eret Timeline” (for lack of a better name) it would fit in.
Well, I might as well put my mini-theory about Drago here too.
For one thing, he and the Warlords in HTTYD 3 share the same insignia. The Warlords clearly know about him (his defeat is referenced several times in Grimmel’s intro).
Plus, it is mentioned that they, like Drago, have plans to conquer the world.
Example of both of these things in one line:
Grimmel: “My dear Warlords. How go your plans to conquer the world?” [the really stupid warlord says something-or-other] “A year since Drago’s defeat, and no further along with your dragon army, I see?”
I suspect that Drago was connected to the Warlords in some way–perhaps even a part of their group. In the very least, they respected him, adopted his insignia, and inspired them.
Since at least one of the Warlords is connected to Grimmel, it is likely that Drago met him at least once, even though he isn’t referenced in the second movie, and Eret was possibly with him on that trip, for whatever reason. That’s the best that I can come up with, anyway.
Any ideas, guys?
Man, I never realized how rich DreamWorks backstories were until now!

Somehow Drago, Grimmel and Viggo all connect. I think it’s explained in the TV show but I don’t remember
March 6, 2020 at 9:59 am #43934Rebekah12Guest
I know that Drago and Viggo are connected, but I don’t remember any of the TV shows mentioning Grimmel.
March 6, 2020 at 10:26 am #43935Sun WukongGuest
No, I don’t think they mentioned him. But they were probably all aware of each other. Didn’t Viggo and Grimmel both say that they hunted all the Night Furies?
March 6, 2020 at 6:19 pm #43936Rebekah12Guest
I don’t remember Viggo saying that, though he was definitely VERY interested in Toothless, but I also haven’t seen the show in a while since my parents deleted Netflix.

I am also a HTTYD fan, although my little sister is obsessed (seriously, anyone that knows her could tell you she’s dragon crazy.). My favorite dragon would have to be Toothless. I have watched all the movies and the show (Race to the Edge). If I had a dragon it would be a deadly nadder named Evenstar, or a scauldron named Rainsong.

Found some HTTYD fanmade music videos that I thought you guys might like.
I just like videos like this for some reason, 😛
I know. I’m weird. The fact that I enjoy basically anything fantasy (including HTTYD, obviously) is the only thing that makes sense about me. All the other stuff I like contradicts the stuff I don’t like. (does that even make sense?)
Let me put it this way: I don’t like Star Wars, but I like The Mandalorian. I don’t like anything with superheroes in it, but Marvel is officially on my fandom list.
