Because of the flood of people coming through the United States’ southern border, the U.S. Government sent extra personnel to the Texas Rio Grande Valley in late June to combat human smuggling operations on the border.
“Less than a month into this operation, 192 smugglers and their associates have already been arrested on criminal charges, more than 501 undocumented immigrants have been taken into custody and more than $625,000 in illicit profits have been seized from 288 bank accounts held by human smuggling and drug trafficking organizations.”
Score one for the good guys.
Every victory is important, but before the influx of immigrants from the southern borders got our attention, I am sure these things were going on. Border patrol is not always about “the immigration issue,” but insuring that illegal activity isn’t bouncing back and forth over the border.
