Last year it was the TLC series Duck Dynasty that was in the cross-hairs of cancellation.
Now, it’s ’19 Kids and Counting.’
After “discriminatory sentiments against the LGBT community,” a petition on Change.org was launched demanding the cancellation of the cable network program featuring the conservative Baptist family of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar.
The petition cites Michelle Duggar’s involvement in a robocall that went out during this past election season against an ‘anti-discrimination housing law’ affecting transgenders in Arkansas:
“Michelle said transgender women should not be able to use the proper restroom and dubbed them ‘males with past child predator convictions that claim they are female.'”
This compounds previous controversy from the Duggar Facebook Page, whereby they asked married couples to post photos of themselves kissing—and then deleting same-sex couples kissing.
And it’s the kids, too.
The Duggar’s oldest son, Josh Duggar, is the executive director of the Family Research Council—deemed an ‘anti-gay’ legislative group.
Doesn’t the Duggar have the right to have these personal views?
The Change.org petition states:
“The Duggars have been using their fame to promote discrimination, hate, and fear-mongering against gays and transgendered people. You need to take a stand on the side of justice and cancel their show.”
What ever happened to not watching television you don’t like or not eating at restaurants that you don’t like?
It’s this kind of aggressive ‘pro’ LGBT activism that will eventually erode religious freedom, freedom of speech and freedom of conscience.
