I have said it time and time again: “Sex trafficking is a complicated issue.”
For that matter, all forms of human trafficking, labor trafficking, child sex and labor trafficking, are complicated. It’s wonderful to think that there’s a catch-all solution that will rid the world of this evil, but there isn’t.
To really fight human trafficking, you have to take multiple approaches. Here are a few ‘fronts’ this battle is on:
- Law Enforcement
This is a list off the top of my head. If you really studied it out, you would find the list much longer — but you get the idea. 🙂
This is why I am so excited to see Los Angeles County’s task force to deal with sex trafficked youth being recruited through their foster care system:
“Los Angeles County supervisors voted Tuesday to create a new training program for foster parents and group home staff to help them identify and help children who might be victims of sex trafficking.”
Holistically, this is a baby step towards stopping child sex trafficking, but it also has the potential to create a ripple effect that could turn this initial movement and action by Los Angeles County to spread across the State of California, the United States, and world wide!
Great job, guys.
