I remember Nia making an brief comment to one of the kids (I think it was Leeli, but I’m not certain) about proper speech—dignified speech fitting of Anniera.

I don’t remember the specifics of the quote, but I believe it was in reference to Leeli adopting the speech patterns of her classmates in Ban Rona, and why Nia wanted Leeli to maintain proper speech.

Can anyone help me find the exact quote? Thanks!

Hi Charles! I believe you’re thinking of this exchange from book 3, chapter 36:

“They said I was real good.”

“Really good,” Nia corrected, kicking the runners on the little sleigh to test their strength. “Not ‘real’ good.”

“That’s just how they talk,” Leeli said.

“That’s fine for them. Not for a Song Maiden.”
