“The toothy cow defies description. It oozes fear as it oozes slobber from its oozy teeth. Such feral ferocity! Such girthic savagery! Its eye fixes upon me in my darkest dreams and I am frozen whilst it moos over me with great hunger.
This was drawn from the confines of my trusty hedgeberry bush costume, an itchy but effective cover from which to view the horrors of Skree.”
I wonder how its milk tastes.
Hmmmmmm. I’m not sure I want to know.
When mom got the 1 book from the library I flipped through the book to check it out and saw the picture of the toothy cow on the back of the book.I don’t remember what I thought but it was probably was along the lines of CREEPY. But now I own the book and love the picture.😁
My little brother had to do a final project for his Wingfeather Saga class, and he decided to make a life-sized toothy cow. Well, it turned out to be about the size of a toothy cow calf, but did look a lot like the picture, if I do say so myself. We named him Awful Alvin. ;P
Wow! That sounds amazing! Can you send a picture to Andrew? We’d love to see (and share) it! (I am most curious about this Wingfeather Saga class, too!)
I would love to, how do I send a pic?
About the class: my brother and I are both homeschooled and we also attend a co-op. One of my brother’s co-op classes was a class for elementary and middle schoolers where they read through the first book, talked about it and did other fun activities (such as making maggot loaf). Each student made a final project to present at our program night like a diorama, or anything else showing off what they had learned about the saga. In my brother’s case, he thought the cow would be fun. He is now hooked on the series!
GEM, just click the Art By You link or the red “send a picture” in my comment above, and you’ll find both email and physical mail options. 🙂 That class sounds so fun!
First of all: Grace, can I join the class? 😉 Second of all: Is Awful Alvin like Awful Alvin and Lampy in VeggieTales LarryBoy?
Firstly, I wish you could but I think you might be too old for it and we are in different parts of the country 😢 and yes we named him after the LarryBoy villain. Our Alvin can’t dance very well though. And we still need to get him a lamp.
Jeez. Terrifying. *runs inside and locks the door* I never thought it would be possible to have a scary cow; but I see that I was wrong.
If I saw one of those in my backyard I would RUN. FOR. MY. LIFE!
If this thing is lumbering towards you, you can understand why I forget about my fear of heights and scrambled up a tree. They actually taste really good.
Personally, (and since I am terrified of normal, average cows in real life) I would either pass out on the spot, or hold really, really still, and pray it walks away. Either of which a very bad idea. 🙂
ok so tink its a cow also are male toothy cows called toothy bolls i mean there have to be males right or are only a few but no one can kill them have they been here sense the dawn of time
No, remember the rock roach ate some.
If I met one, I wouldn’t know whether to start rolling on the floor laughing at how silly it looks, or run in terror and it starts gnawing on my shoes.
I would recommend running in terror, myself!
Don’t let the children go near it!
that should be in a bull fight, o wait it is uh oh…
I knew a farmer who had these.but one day no one could find him!blond hair blue eyes and pink mustache.if you see him tell me.
I am lucky indeed, partly because the tickets were free to all members of the church, and I got meet him at the of the concert found out that I was born in Florida, not too far away from where he used to live. And thank you very much for the name of that song Rache.
GO GATORS!
By the way, i am podo! yaaaaargh, I agree! Somebody needs to make a movie! I am 11 and I’ve read them all. They’re totally awesome. I can’t wait for the fourth one to come out!
(technical difficultys below)
A movie would be great but ye got to think they could mess up the books with a movie.
Hard to understand me know I don’t even understand my self
By the way, i am podo! yaaaaargh, I agree! Somebody needs to make a movie! The books are totally awesome. I can’t wait for the fourth one to come out!
How are you Podo and 11 and a grandfather?
Song with all the names is Matthew’s Begats, one of my favorites! You’re so lucky, Eagle Eye!
i went to an Andrew Peterson concert on May 5 at my church (which my church kindly gave out free tickets) in Russelville AR where he sang many songs and made many jokes. He also autographed an “Andrew Peterson 2013 Spring Tour Light For The Lost Boy” poster, he even signed my name on it (which was kinda cool). His songs included “Oh, in the Night”, the song with a bunch names that led to Jesus (don’t remember its name), his infamous “Cheese Song”, and many others I honestly don’t remember that their names.

I agree Elisabeth!! lol I LOVE his music!! (“Just as I am” is my favorite)
I think his name is Andrew… But the illustrations are wonderful; I like the chorkneys best. I am not quite so good at art yet, but I’m getting there… Being thirteen, I can probably say that I am not one of the youngest readers; my sister was ten when she read them… Keep writing mr. Peterson!
I agree. I was 11 when I tried to read it but I hadn’t finished the first one until I was 12 myself. I like his music too. ( I say as I listen to one of his CDs.
I am 10 years old and can’t wait till your next book.I have read the first three and I have offically decided your books are my favorite.P.S.Queen of Iowa almost made me cry
I totally agree with Emily.Andrew Peterson is a great writer and I to would like to be both writer and artist.FANGS!!!
Wow….I have just finished North or be eaten, and was taken away with the skill and creativity of Mr Peterson. I am probably one of his youngest, and most avid readers. Being only 12, I found that quite a few of my parents friends had read books from the Wingfeather saga. I cannot wait for the third, and will be watching Exclusive Books for it. The illustrations were out of this world! And if I pursue my love of art, I will always look back on the the extraordinary illustrations. I wouldn’t mind being a write either. William Peterson inspires me in everyday life. Sometimes I wake up in the morning and find myself still stuck in Glipwood after last nights read!
I am a huge AP fan! I am 17 and have a ton of his CD’s. I loved the book, I’ve them all several times. He really inspires me.
