Horned Hound

horned-houndhorned hound (domesticated!)

“Never would I have dreamed that someone would be so foolish as to train a horned hound, but there it was. I dangled in a mossy coat from a glipwood tree, trying with little success to sketch a gulpswallow in flight, when inches below I heard the unmistakable panting of this mighty beast.

When I saw the spiked collar on its neck I nearly fell to the ground in shock. Who would be mad enough to do such a thing? Whoever it was, they now resided in the she-hound’s belly. Of this I am certain.

Their pups, it must be said, are quite cuddly.”

If I woke up in the middle of the night and saw that thing, then looked at the wall and saw a spider, I would tell the creepy dog thing to kill the spider first. Cause I would rather die without a spider on my wall!

I knocked out 10 of these out with a rock. Janner knocked out 7. So I am the champion of knocking horned hounds out with rocks. I am also the champion of eating. (And I am proud of it.)

It seams that the owner of the horned hound in the picture was eaten, but maybe that was because he had tamed it in its adulthood. Maybe if you get a baby horned hound you could raise it, and it not eat you for a change?

If it is possible for anyone, I think Leeli is the one to try it. The rest of us would probably get eaten the first time we were late bringing Fido his dinner.

      Can I help you?

Experts generally agree that keeping horned hounds is not for the faint of heart or delicious of flesh. However, one intrepid adventurer in the second age (Glorip Hannag) discovered that by dangling a flaming torch before them, the horned hounds were induced to run, enraged, toward the fire and away from the houndrick, which was attached to the hounds by stout chains. As horned hounds have a tendency to disobey (with arrogance) any living thing, it is not surprising that little is known of Glorip beyond his historic first journey. His journals are fascinating, however, and you may find them here in the library filed under BOOKS ABOUT THINGS NEVER TO DO AGAIN.

    old mut!”
boy 2: “Well I have a horned hound, so your point is in-valid.”

If the pups are cuddly please send me one of these dog’s pups as well as the kind Nugget is.Surely it wouldn’t kill me if it had been with me since it was too little to swallow me.
