Back in 2007, Australian skateboarder Oliver Percovich started a nonprofit organization called, Skateistan.
The idea was to connect young people and education through skateboarding in Afghanistan—what fun!
What’s even more interesting that this is:
45% of the students are female.
This is such a cool project!

Because riding a bicycle is forbidden for women in Afghanistan, skateboarding has spread to become the number one sport for women.
