We talk about immigration in the United States, but do we really understand it?
What has immigration historically been like in the U.S.?
This interactive infographic paints a very interesting picture.
As you can easily see, the World Wars put a real damper on immigration, and we are currently in the biggest swell of immigration in United States history.
Keep in mind, however, that the U.S. population in the early 1900’s was far less than it is today. So while we appear to be in a “huge spike,” the number of immigrants per capita would not be nearly as impressive.
